The Gospel of Kink is a workshop in book form. Its innovative and interactive format presents the reader with numerous situations and dilemmas that arise as people embrace their kinkiness and integrate their eroticism into daily life.

The Gospel of Kink is on the cutting edge of the sex-positive and kink-aware movements. This workbook helps the reader break free from the painful silence the dominant culture imposes on alt culture and those of us on the sexual fringe.

The Gospel of Kink provides an opportunity to learn from people just like you. Its on-the-page workshop features a group of ten fictional characters who are your fellow participants. In addition, it includes a panel of actual seasoned kinky, BDSM, and alt culture practitioners who share their expertise and life experience with you.

The Gospel of Kink engages you with numerous exercises and homework. As a workshop participant, you will complete A Personal Alt Relationship Inventory, discuss the Essentials of Effective Communication, identify Tools and Techniques for Navigating Alt Relationship Conflicts, and learn how to Keep Things Fresh and Interesting.

The Gospel of Kink provides a safe and secure place for you to air your concerns without fear of being judged for how you live your life or with whom you choose to live it. You will learn within a framework of honesty, activity, alliance, support, and humor.

The Gospel of Kink is a workbook designed primarily for the modern kinkster, but not exclusively. Family, friends, healing and helping professionals, teachers, students, indeed anyone who wishes to further understand and better communicate with those they know on the sexual fringe, will benefit from this book.

I am a Seattle-based sex-positive psychotherapist and recommend Richard Wagner's (Ph.D, ACS) "The Gospel of Kink" to anyone who is in the midst of exploring their wants, needs, and personal truths related to alternative sexuality. Setup as a group workshop, the book introduces group members who are either exploring or expanding their interests in kink, BDSM, and polyamory. Like the "Amateur's Guide to Death and Dying: Enhancing End of Life (another great book by Richard Wagner)," "The Gospel of Kink," brings the reader into the world of the group; the reader becomes a participant in this workshop group whereby he/she explores such topics as creating healthy alternative relationships, developing more effective communication, learning the art of boundary-setting, learning about power dynamics, engaging in experimental play, developing tools for negotiations, and working through negative emotions. Exercises and homework are provided at the end of each chapter. You, the reader, have the opportunity to check-in about the homework assignments and join in on the group discussions that follow. Midway through the group a panel of sex-positive experts are invited as guests to answer questions and give members advice. Group members offer their appreciation for the opportunity to share their thoughts and questions with the panel.
I greatly appreciate the style and format of this book. Richard has found a way to illustrate group members' honesty and vulnerability, as they travel along their respective journeys, very well. He is very validating and supportive as a group facilitator. I appreciated that the expert panel consisted of varied professionals all situated in the Seattle area. As a sex-positive psychotherapist and community member myself, I am very integrated into the alternative sexuality communities in this area. As such, I felt more connected to the people on the panel. Moreover, there is a high likelihood I might meet these individuals one day. As alluded to above, each person from the expert panel comes from a different vantage point in his/her respective area: a performer of gay porn, a student, a practitioner and member of the Seattle Leather Community, and a sex-positive psychotherapist. Each perspective added breadth and depth to the discussion. I was moved by how each person offered advice and feedback in a very authentic, genuine, and real way.
If there is one critique at all, it is associated with the number of group members. Richard, not only introduces each member's profile during the book's introduction, he has them introduce themselves during the first group session. Additionally, group member are given plenty of time to check in and comment about their ongoing process of growth. By itself, this is positive and the work of an effective group facilitator. It, however, becomes arduous reading through 10 people's insights, comments, and questions in each section. I found myself wanting to skim at times - leading me to miss some context and potentially important information.
Despite this critique, "The Gospel of Kink" is down to earth and great for anyone interested in kink and/or other forms of alternative sexuality to read. Whether single or in relationship (in any of its forms and configurations), I would highly recommend it as a sound resource to exploring and/or expanding your sexual desires, as well as developing necessary skills to navigate through alternative sexuality and lifestyles.

The Gospel of Kink edition by Richard Wagner Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews

This book is a great conversational tool and resource for anyone trying to find a way to talk about their BDSM lifestyle in a constructive way with others. The interaction with the group is wonderful and you get to see some real deep down hurts and helps as the book guides you toward positive discussions.

This book is a must for anyone interested in the BDSM lifestyle.
If you liked "The Artist's Way" as a tool for encouraging creativity, and are seeking sexual healing and growth, then look no further than "The Gospel of Kink." Dr. Wagner's take on Kink and personal exploration is the most innovative I've possibly ever seen in the realm of sex education. This is not a "how to" book, (nothing wrong with that), rather a dialectic wherein you, as the reader, can discourse on who you are and what you want. Personal exploration fulfills one's need to grow and develop - and we can always use more sexually empowered people in this world.
"The Gospel of Kink" takes a unique approach to the topic of kinky relationships, in that it is written as a group coaching study program where the reader takes part in the workshops provided in an interactive way. It begins with a personal intake form that the reader fills out in order to get insight about their own life and what they hope to accomplish by taking the workshop. Each chapter includes self-study assignments as well that the reader can fill out themselves and participate in. The book then introduces you to a diverse selection of fellow participants that includes several alternative relationships "styles", gender and sexual preferences from single and divorced to monogamous and polygamous, straight and gay couples. With this diverse mix, the reader should have some people within the group to whom they can identify. From there the group discusses the challenges they each face and the reader explores many topics including communication, boundaries, power dynamics, negotiation, types of play, as well as dealing with negative emotions.

"The Gospel of Kink" is a great resource for those interested in exploring issues related to alternative lifestyles and kink, as a self-coaching program to guide you through specific challenges, and to create inspired action for personal growth and empowerment in your alt/kink relationship.
